However, recently Teresa pulled it out and got a very encouraging surprise. As she reviewed what the prophets had said, she was amazed at how much of it has come to pass. Here are some examples:

The prophecies said that she would be learning deliverance ministry. Teresa says that at the time, "I didn't really see [deliverance ministry] coming and I wouldn't have guessed that would be an area I would be passionate about." However, soon after she received the prophecy a request came for Teresa to be involved in Cleansing Stream, a discipleship and deliverance ministry operating in her local church. She says, "It was nice to hear about that kind of thing ahead of time, because then when you get into it, you know you're doing the right thing. It's a confirmation." Was deliverance ministry a fit for Teresa? Within four years, God had moved her into position as leader of her church's Cleansing Stream team and regional director for western Canada.

The prophecies said that there would come a time when she would be so healed, she would be thankful for her past experiences. At the time, Teresa was coming out of a very painful, wounding season in her life, which she just wanted to put behind her altogether. Today Teresa says, "I can honestly say that I am grateful for what I've gone through because now I minister out of my experiences in the past."

Teresa wanted the prophecies to say that she would be going to the nations. Since the time she was a little girl, that is what she felt her destiny was. But she had no outside confirmation of her heart's desire. To her great joy and relief, the first prophet started by saying that God was going to give her the desires of her heart and "send you like a spear to the nations." Since then God has sent her on numerous trips, from First Nations reserves in northern Canada to the islands of the south Pacific.

All of this reinforces IHH's conviction that prophetic ministry is a vital component of its ministry equipping. The apostle Paul indicated its importance when he said, "This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight..." (1 Timothy 1:18). Teresa's experience shows that personal prophecy is as helpful now as it was then. "It helps me know that I'm on the right path and it helps me know that God knew the path I would be taking all along."
