Relational Learning is a phrase that describes aspects of Into His Harvest training such as Group Activities and Mentoring. Relational Learning also points to the subtle yet powerful effects of being trained in a robust Church Environment.

Mentoring

Mentoring is... a relational experience through which one person empowers another by sharing God-given resources. Mentoring relationships take place throughout all years of the Into His Harvest experience, but become more purposeful and intensive through Years Two & Three.

Each Year Two & Three participant links up with one or more veteran believers who have made themselves available to be mentors. As mentor and mentoree minister together, talk through issues and even just “hang out,” relationships grow and create growth on many levels, both personal and ministry-related. All this contributes immeasurably to bringing students beyond simply being disciples to being disciple makers themselves.

Group Activities

  • Teamwork — Approximately half of Into His Harvest's training is devoted to practical, hands-on ministry experience, and most if not all of that takes place in a team context. (See the various headings under Hands-On Ministry.)

Team ministry puts the students in a position where learning from team leaders and other team members is not just likely; it's unavoidable. As the camaraderie and shared experiences grow and multiply, so does the rate of personal growth and learning.

  • Prayer — Into His Harvest students are scheduled to spend a minimum of three hours each week developing their prayer life. While there are options that allow for personal devotional prayer, other times are spent praying corporately with the student body, in church prayer meetings and/or with inter-church prayer groups.

  • Heart-To-Heart times — An important activity of IHH teams is the sharing and caring that takes place in team heart-to-heart sessions. Team time is regularly set aside for encouraging, exhorting and edifying one another. Also, team leaders have one-on-one heart-to-hearts with individual team members.

  • Chapel — In the Year One & Two courses, two days per week are “4W Days.” 4W stands for…

Worship

War

Wait

Work

Praise & Worship

Spiritual Warfare & Intercession

Prayer and Peer Ministry
(Isa.40:31; 1Cor.11:33)

Practical Ministry & Excursions

One 4W Day each week includes a Chapel time with student-led worship and other W’s. Not every 4W Day, however, includes all four W’s.

  • Growth S.P.U.R.T. Events — (S.P.U.R.T. = Special Period: Under Rapid Transformation) The retreats, conferences, etc. that IHH students take part in throughout the year are memorable, fun, bonding times as well as profound learning experiences.

    Growth S.P.U.R.T.s include:

  • interchurch conferences, including FOCUS conference for youth;

  • a “Wilderness Challenge” excursion, where teams of participants are given demanding dilemmas to resolve in an outdoor setting;

  • an intensive "Spiritual Disciplines Retreat” at a lakeside location (part of the "Intimacy with God" class);

  • a mission trip, which is counted as a class in Year One and Year Two. See Mission Trips for more information;

  • other events, as the Holy Spirit directs.

See Event Tuition for more information about Growth S.P.U.R.T. events.

¤    NOTE: Children may not accompany Growth S.P.U.R.T. participants.

Church Environment

It is a true saying that “More is caught than taught.” Week by week throughout the school year Into His Harvest students catch much from having Harvest City Church as their training environment. Surrounded by the many ministries and activities of this church of 800-900, the students daily see their lessons lived out before them and have ample opportunity to dive right in.

Many students from outside Regina have received an extra impartation from living with church families. (See Housing Assistance.)
