IHH Distance Class Tips & Guidelines
Please take note of the helpful pointers and requirements given below (for example, the deadlines and late fees). Taking them to heart will help ensure that your distance learning experience is a pleasant and successful one!
Study Pattern
The most critical factor for fruitful distance learning is establishing a study pattern that works for you. Setting goals, scheduling and creating a productive study environment are secrets to your success.
-
Setting Goals – Without goals, people cast off restraint (compare Proverbs 29:18). But if you take your God-given vision to learn and turn it into goals that are challenging yet achievable, those goals will help keep you focused and motivated.
Is God wanting you to learn all you can to develop your personal spiritual gift-mix? Is your vision to take a number of classes to equip you for a certain ministry or calling? Whatever your vision, keep it before you as you set your goals and also throughout the time you pursue them.
-
Scheduling – Part of setting goals is scheduling deadlines for yourself. If you neglect scheduling and fail to plan, then in a sense you plan to fail. To help you guard against that, IHH has established for you the generous, maximum deadlines shown in the table below.
| Deadline Name and Details |
If the Deadline is Missed... |
| "Return Date" — DVDs and CD are to be received back at IHH by six months after they were sent or picked up. |
A late notice is sent reminding you that the recordings must be received within one month if you are to avoid a late fee. |
| "Late Return Date" — is seven months after the recordings were sent or picked up. |
A second late notice is sent and a $25 late fee of is deducted from your Media Deposit. |
| "Lock Enrol Date" — is eight months after the recordings were sent or picked up. |
A second $25 late fee of is deducted from your Media Deposit. Also, no further enrolment is allowed until the recordings are returned or accounted for. |
-
Study Environment – There is a reason why Jesus said to “go into your inner room [and] close your door” when you pray (Matthew 6:6). Seeking God and being taught by Him are best done in a quiet, secluded environment.
We recommend that you follow a checklist like this:
___ Is your study room quiet, well lit and at a comfortable temperature?
___ Are telephones and other distracters silenced?
___ Have you requested that people not bother you while you’re studying?
___ Have you prayed for God’s wisdom and revelation?
